How to prepare, by exam
Your appointment confirmation includes exact instructions. Start here for the basics.
3T wide-bore MRI
Pacemakers, defibrillators, cochlear implants, nerve stimulators, aneurysm clips, insulin pumps and any metal fragments. Many devices are MRI-safe or MRI-conditional, but we need to check before your scan.
How to prepareLow-dose CT
If your CT uses contrast, you may be asked not to eat for a few hours beforehand. Follow the instructions we give you when you book.
How to prepareHigh-resolution ultrasound
You will usually be asked not to eat for several hours beforehand so the gallbladder and other organs are easy to see.
How to prepareDigital X-ray
Most X-rays need no preparation. Eat, drink and take your medicines as usual.
