FAQ

X-ray questions, answered

See all questions

How much radiation does an X-ray use?

Very little. A typical X-ray uses a small dose, and modern digital systems use less than older film-based equipment. We image only the area your doctor needs.

How long does an X-ray take?

The exam itself usually takes less than 10 minutes.

Can I have an X-ray if I am pregnant?

Tell your doctor and our technologist if you are or might be pregnant. Many X-rays can still be done safely with shielding or by adjusting the exam, and sometimes another test is a better choice.

When will I get my results?

A board-certified radiologist reads your images and sends a report to your doctor, typically within 24 to 48 hours. You can also view your report in our patient portal.
